I'm a first year special education resource teacher, in school rich in diversity and culture. I co-teach in an inclusive kindergarten classroom and also work with second graders. Many of my students struggle to try new things, because they are not confident in their abilities and do not want their peers to see them as "different". When we use technology, however, they have a completely different mindset that allows them to open up and take risks. The students on my caseload have a variety of talents and personalities that have truly made my first year of teaching amazing. It can be challenging to meet all of their unique needs, but my students' desire to succeed and do well make it all worth it! My school is very diverse, and students come from many different backgrounds. I'm constantly looking for new and exciting ways to engage my students and help them become confident in themselves and all that they do.
