My classroom is a very diverse group, ranging from upper middle-class to lower income families. This particular group of students also ranges from what I consider "gifted" to students needing extra instruction. Many families in our district are transient and their particular children need a structured/loving environment. I try to create a classroom that is bright, inviting, and stimulating. Having a great place to join for circle/floor time will help to create this environment. We are fortunate in our school district to be given a spending allowance each year for classroom materials, which I use to get the things I most need each year. This allowance, however, does not go for the things we always want.
