Remote learning has been hard for my students and their families. The students have had to rise above all the difficulties. This project will supply every student with their own copy of the novel Hatchet, a story in which a young boyl who has to find a way to rise above difficult circumstances. By reading Hatchet, students will be able to relate to the main character and rise above the difficulties of remote learning. We will read this novel as a class and the students will be able to relate to the main character, Brian. Before, during, and after reading we will complete many comprehension activities to help us improve our comprehension. Students will make text connections, write chapter summaries, use writing prompts to think deeply about our reading.
