These standing desks will provide the gross motor movement and energy release necessary for students to listen to instruction and/or work independently. They are also adjustable, so they can be used at different heights and for different reasons. These desks will also possibly prevent "traditional behavior issues" in our classroom. When students have been sitting too long, they are more likely to lose their ability to attend and may start to move around. This can disrupt the learning for the individual and for others. My hope is that by providing a natural outlet for them, they will build their learning stamina.
