For seven years, the junior class at Harborside Academy in Kenosha, Wisconsin has run a year-long expedition called "Food and Justice For All". A local business, "Commercial Plastics" has allowed us to plant our school garden on 5 acres of their open land adjacent to their building. As students learn about topics such as food security and food policy, we strive to make our learning authentic by planting, maintaining, and growing vegetables in our sizable school garden. The garden has been the host to school expedition "kick-offs", elementary school field work, spring intensive classes, and summer service hours for high schoolers, college students, and community members. For several years, produce has been sold at Kenosha's Harbor Market, with students manning the booth. This year, we hope to provide 10 - 15 food-insecure families with fresh vegetables each week of the growing season.
