Students need to communicate and explore to meet proficiency on essential learning skills! Students will meet their learning goals by working together, playing games, reading, and communication with one another! The students' enjoyment of learning will soar with these new math and reading materials! The books that are listed in my requests are books that my students find interest in, have asked for as additions to our collection, or books that are award winning books that I think they would love to have in our classroom library. An area of concern in data across grade levels shows that fluency needs improvement with our students scores. Having their love of reading increase with texts that they choose and love will help increase those scores to levels of proficiency. The math resources that are included align with our math standards and are similar activities to what we are currently doing in the classroom that students LOVE to do! Students have time to read from our classroom library in the morning and when they are finished with their assignments in math and science. Students have had a chance to meet with an author in the past and as a fifth grade team we are trying to increase their love for reading and with that will increase their reading fluency and comprehension. Students are currently struggling with math facts and so all of the games and resources included in this project will increase computation skills and math fluency. Students will help one another and love the competition with their peers; therefore, making games a great way for these kids to learn!
