The students in my classroom come from disadvantaged homes and exposed to a life with little opportunity. Most of their parents do not have a high school education. My students come to school daily needing breakfast, a warm place to be all day and a safe place to escape outside influences in their life which include gang interactions. Despite all of this, these students are incredibly deserving and have a deep desire to learn to better themselves for their future. We work hard to try to show students a positive route and to prepare them to be critical yet creative thinkers.
