I teach a wide range of age groups and intellect. From Kinder through 8th grade, we are spending time learning what music is about, how it works, and why it is so important to integrate into out lives. My favorite part of teaching music is when an entire class comes together to understand what I've taught, thus allowing me to solidify how I should teach it in the future for continuous success. Students learn to play basic instruments with their hands (drums, sticks, shakers), read music, feel music, play more elaborate instruments (boomwhackers, ukuleles, band instruments, piano), and of course everyone learns to sing. Music is a part of all studies in school, and what's more is that I might teach students to play and dance and sing to music, they are the ones who are teaching me today's popular styles and trends. With that we are always changing and adapting lessons to allow for students and myself feel successful.
