This rug will serve as the foundation of learning throughout the day. In my classroom, I use a multi-sensory approach to meet the needs of ALL learners. We rotate our learning environment multiple times daily. Students work with partners, at their seats, and in small and large groups throughout the day. This rug would be used in all of these learning opportunities to define their space and make them feel important as they sit on a one of a kind, "unique rug." By gathering together as a large group, students would have the opportunity to learn during focus lessons. This particular rug would enable all students to either sit on OR around the rug depending on the specific lesson. In addition, during small group or partner work, students would have the opportunity to sit on a comfy, inviting rug, while engaging in an assignment or activity in all curriculum areas. As a bonus, this rug includes the map and time zones for the United States (a great way to encourage students to learn placement of the states in their country!).
