Hi there! My name is Catalina and I am a bilingual educator currently serving as a fifth grade teacher at Helen Marie Smith Elementary School. This is my fourth year teaching fifth grade. Prior to that, I taught multiple years as a Kindergarten teacher and worked as a K-5 Reading Interventionist. I'm working hard to expand my teaching strategies as I approach a transition into the world of administration. I have a distinct passion for helping students take ownership of their learning no matter what grade they are in. Having taught both primary and intermediate grades, I value the need for consistency throughout grade levels and works diligently to assist students and families become their own educational advocates as students transition into middle school.
