My students are 18-21 years of age. They are from all different races and backgrounds. My school is a training center for students with Special Needs. My school is a rare school in the city of Chicago. The students don't take classes like Art, History or Math. They are in janitorial, housekeeping and hospitality classes. My school focuses on our students becoming as independent as possible. My students learn how to function at school, home and in community. My students are in their senior year of our program. They come to my program to learn on the job skills and gain employable skills. I work with them to obtain jobs and help them to be successful on a job. My goal is for my students to be seen for their ability, not their disability. We volunteer at Chicago's Navy Pier,one of the biggest tourists attraction in the city. We work along side of their employees.
