In addition to students building and operating robots, students must be proficient in programming and record-keeping. It is critical for each team's programmer to have access to a notebook. All programming must regularly be updated, properly labeled, and synced with controllers. The developers must be familiar with the Chromebook and the program. There will be times when changes must be made within minutes to maximize robot manipulation. Minimum risk of low energy results with the portable charger and the 15-foot surge extension cord. Assembling the Chromebook, charger, and extension cord in the carry case increases the student’s confidence that the electronics will work and ensures that the students can concentrate on programming robots. Building robots teach students about the importance of recordkeeping. Record keeping is a vital component of the robotic team. Recording the progress of a project enables the team to strategically troubleshoot, make improvements, and record what works and what doesn’t work. Cameras are the best tools to visualize this to other team members. Digital cameras enable students to study pictures and videos so that continual improvements enhance the robot’s capabilities. Students can create YouTube videos that will help future teams beyond our rural area to expand. Having access to the technological materials requested ensures that students' ideas, trials, and results impact their robotic learning.
