When performing swing era jazz music, you need the proper tools to produce the correct type of sound. One of the tools used by brass players is a variety of mutes. Having a pixie mute expands the solo choices our trombone players will have. We also need mutes for a bass trombone, and more for our trombone section. This will allow for a unified section sound during muted passages. As we have the needed equipment handy, we can then expand the music selections we will be able to learn and cover a more broad sample of jazz big band standards.
