Just think what it would be like if you forgot your cell phone at home all day! To my students, that is what it is like almost everyday. My scholars do not have any computers to use in our classroom. In education today, it is proven that students succeed with real-life exposure. How can you expose children to the arts without technology? Having at least 4 computers in my classroom would allow for students to engage in activities throughout the day in all subjects, especially the arts.
My students are active and boisterous learners who crave independence. They are social and curious. My students live in an urban area of Indianapolis in an impoverished eastside neighborhood. Our school, an independent charter, is a beacon to this unique area of town. The school has maintained its focus on the arts, technology, and education of the whole child. Our teachers are consistently seeking ways to teach creatively using differentiated instruction to a wide range of student abilities.
