I have a majority of minority students. My students are hardworking, caring, and are always trying to help each other. They love to talk and give hugs and tell stories. The children come to school with varying levels of prior experience and as teachers we become much more than that, we are their family. Students call me "mom" as much as Mrs. Purdy. We teach everything from the academic subjects to supporting their social and emotional needs. We discuss nutrition and hygiene and many other things. My fifth graders are fully of sass but would do anything for each other. They are an amazing group of kids.
