My students are incredible kids, despite the challenges that they face. My school is 100% free and reduced price lunch, and I have students who are homeless and who face unimaginable challenges. I teach in a district which has experienced a lot of turmoil in the media and community, and a lot of poverty and violence in the where my students live. I see in my students a true desire to learn, and to give it their all despite the odds they are facing. Some of my students read five grade levels below where they should be, and perform at a significantly lower math level. Though I teach sixth graders, not one of my students reads above a 2nd grade level. This is commensurate with the district performance. We have students who truly struggle with literacy. MobyMax has enabled them to track their progress and to independently learn, which has really empowered to them to take responsibility for their learning. It is a program that is beginning to close the gaps!
