Students like having their own personal place to keep their books and materials for reading. Individual book bins will allow for students to have an organized place for their literacy materials. If each student has their own personal place for their literacy materials, then each child will develop ownership for their love for reading. Having their own book bin will allow each student to keep their books and all literacy materials in an organized place. Currently, students store their literacy items in their desk which takes a lot of time to find when each student needs to find and gather reading items for small group reading time. Individual book bins will help organize 27 second graders so each student knows where to find their books and writing materials when needed for learning, especially when meeting the teacher for guided reading. Book bins will be used continuously year after year for teaching literacy to our second graders.
