In the ever so growing world of education, science and technology are becoming prominent. Students today, are technologically savvy and are makers. The maker movement is where students use materials such as legos to make and create things they go along with the content they are learning. The materials of this project would greatly increase student involvement, student collaboration, and student inquiry. Becoming a maker, or inventor, in the kindergarten classroom allows for the content to become alive to students. They are no longer just sitting and listening, they are moving and creating. It will not feel like memorizing information but feel like they are designing and playing. With the use of legos, students will be able to make their name, construct characters for a story they have written, or design new solution for a world problem. The legos would open the kindergarten content by permitting students to live what they are learning.
