"The impulse to create is one of the most basic human drives." ~Silvia Martinez The "Libratory" inventors will range in age from 7 -12. They hale from diverse cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. My students represent a wide spectrum of learning preference, as well as physical and cognitive abilities. They vary greatly in their exposure to and comfort level with technology. What they have in common is the need for collaborative problem-solving and creating opportunities. A project-based, inquiry-driven learning environment will empower all students to develop and use the skills necessary for future success in an information-based economy. The "Libratory" will serve as the community space where individual skill sets will be celebrated as hearts, minds and hands unite toward a common goal.
