My students will utilize the poly folders to personalize and create their journals for life lasting READING experiences. They will becoming lovers of READING by maintaining journals for AR (Accelerated Reader) experiences in neatly protected ways. This will allow them to maintain a reading log that includes reading levels and points earned by each book/novel read. Their journal will become their DAILY BREAD and source of brain nutrition. Students will summarize books/novels read in special diagrams that will serve as stepping stones to build on rigor, stamina and fluency. These AR journals will be kept in poly folders and ultimately stored in a special place -their chair organizers. In this manner, at a moments notice students will hear clue words - "It's DEAR time" - and they will "Drop Everything and Read!" In doing so, students will maximize reading time to help build fluency and vocabulary and ultimately reach their 100 point goal by the end of the school year.
