Nightly reading is a must for the students in my classroom. This is an unwavering expectation that I have of them. With high expectations comes the need for me to provide them with the tools to meet those expectations. Since the students in my class lack access to grade appropriate text at home, especially in Spanish, I am seeking funds to take care of this need. I have an open book checkout system in my class. Students are allowed to take books home to read with their parents each night, no fancy checkout system, no penalties for lost, damaged or forgotten items. The items from this grant will be used to create a flexible seating option with floor seats for students to read anywhere they prefer while in the classroom. The grant also provides a good selection of grade appropriate books in Spanish for the Students to enjoy reading at home or in class.
