As an addition to the flexible seating options my classroom already has, the two stand up desk and stools will help my students stay focused and engaged during my lesson because of the freedom of choice and acceptance to fidget in flexible seating. Flexible classroom seating allows students to sit or stand in a way that best suits students’ body. We cannot expect kids to sit for unlimited hours on the rug or at their tables doing work – but we do need them to feel physically and emotionally regulated so that they are able to be engaged on to the lessons that we’re teaching. In addition, students with ADHD or other learning needs can concentrate better when they’re allowed to fidget in class. With this project, I will be able to give my students more options of seating and standing to be successful and comfortable in their learning.
