As I read, reflect, and repent on racism in my own world and the world around us, I know I have some work to do as an educator. As an educator I have a huge impact on young students; it's both exciting and daunting all at the same time. When I self evaluate my classroom library I notice that so many of the books I have with black, indigenous people and people of color often highlight their struggle or oppression. I want to change that. I want my classroom library to be a place that highlights their JOY. I want kids to pick up books, smile and say, "He (she) is just like me!" Help me change my classroom library and in return help to change the world. We all deserve to be seen and loved.
