I teach in a Title 1 school. My students live in a high poverty area and most are unable to afford basic school supplies. Technology is out of the question for them. Our district supplies individual laptops, but not the technology to enhance and enrich their use. The students are often distracted by the noise from other computers and other students. Headphones would allow each student to focus on his or her individual learning goals. Several students have attention deficits and are very easily distracted. They also become frustrated easily. Headphones will greatly decrease the distractions they are plagued by The students love working on their computers, but rarely see their work in printed form. It is difficult for them to share their work with their families or to draw their families into their learning. They are so excited that they might soon be able to invite their families to share in their learning.
