Over the past year, our school district has embraced the benefits of teaching students programming and other problem-solving skills by supporting the development of multiple robotics teams from fifth grade through twelfth grade. Our school is a small, rural middle school in North Alabama. Students in my two robotics class participate in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competitions. My sixth grade LEGO robotics students participate in FIRST LEGO League (FLL), and my seventh and eighth grade students participate in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC).
