I have a lot of struggling readers who need high-interest books that are on their level. I want them to fall in love with reading by giving them books on topics they enjoy, with words they can read and understand. My main goal is increase their intrinsic motivation for reading on their own. My kids love to read with friends, but our school library does not many additional copies of the books they like. This project came out of a class brainstorming session on ways to help struggling readers. They wanted to institute reading clubs in our classroom. Donors Choose was one way I thought we could achieve our goal.
