The 8th grade social studies and the English departments at BMS are working hand in hand to end the year with an exciting project. Research is completed in English class about historical figures who were famous during the Civil War. Students compile the information into a written report or create an informative Google Site. Then students tell the story of their Civil War celebrity through a song by replacing lyrics of a popular tune with information they have compiled through research. This has always been an exciting project, and now that each student has access to an iPad, our team is hoping to make it even more engaging by allowing students to use a green screen kit and apps to record a music video. They are rehearsing diligently and are excited at the prospect of adding another dimension to their project.

About my class
