My group of 1st graders are an active little group. Most of the students would prefer to not sit in their seats all day long. In turn, I don't want them to. I want my students to be actively engaged. It is proven that if students are actively engaged in what they are learning, they will succeed at a higher level. We are a K-2 school that consists of about about 600+ students in a small community. Our school has high expectations and we are all about student growth and active engagement. We believe that our students are our highest priority. We are also a Leader in Me school. We strive to create leaders within our student body. If students are not allowed to engage in their learning and be active in every aspect of their school, we can't expect them to be responsible leaders in their community later in life. The students have to believe in themselves and know that it's okay to make mistakes. The students truly believe they are little kids who do BIG things.
