My school is a low income, high poverty, Title 1 school, with all of the students receiving free breakfast and lunch. I have 20 curious first graders in my class. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, but for most of them English is their second language. Many of them have Non-English speaking parents. This requires my students to take on many adult like responsibilities as they try to help maneuver their parents through a predominately English speaking community.
