Our classroom library is a place where my students are able to make selections to pick out books to read during independent reading time. This is a time where students have choice and are able to choose books for themselves that are of high interest. In order for them to be able to do that they have to have access to those texts. When my students have more variety of books that are of greater interests, they are more engaged and want to read on their own. In order to develop strong readers, students have to have access to a variety of texts. These books will give access to more engaging books to read. My students love reading books with characters that mirror who they are. They also love reading books that are current and appeal to the youth of today. My students will enjoy being able to choose from the variety this selection offers and grow as readers.
