We are in Amish Country, so we have some Amish students and some conservative Mennonite students. Our students can come to school knowing very little English, so group and partner work is very important to build communication skills. We are a rural school, surrounded by small businesses and farms. In our classroom of first graders, we have many high energy learners, who need hands-on, group-based lessons.
