Our motto here in Del Valle is "Whatever It Takes." It really reflects how our students are hard workers committed to reaching their goals. They just need to be given the materials and opportunity to show their passion. As a Title 1 school we face many challenges to meet this need, especially in English Language Arts and Reading where a variety of content and proficiency levels is needed so every student is able to explore on their own. With the nearest public library nearly 8 miles away, and the school library damaged by heavy rains last fall, having a classroom library stocked with multiple copies of engaging titles, as well as the other books in a favorite series, is vital to keep our students reading. In the classroom library they will have access to many stories they can relate to and many characters they can empathize with. "Great books help you understand, and they help you feel understood." -Joh
