Theatre is a subject that embraces a variety of learning styles. One of the most important things we do is read plays. This allows students to not only grow their literacy skills, but they also learn to read with expression and meaning. They begin to really understand what they are reading and how it relates to the world around them. I have chosen plays that will expand their vocabulary (Richard III) and challenge their thinking on modern American history (A Raisin in the Sun) and current events (Clybourne Park). These are three plays that highlight not only the human condition, but also force students to evaluate their own lives and decisions.
