So often Social Studies is one of those "oh, we will get to it if there is time" kind of subjects. But Social Studies should be something the kids look forward to! When I teach my student Social Studies almost every concept is something brand new to them. A lot of times they have never been exposed to the concepts and ideas we discuss. They know very little of government, economics, or creating and reading maps. These games and activities will help the children by improving their connections to difficult social studies concepts. Economics and it's implications to personal finance is a hard concept for students to grasp. These games provide real world games that reinforce and teach these skills in a way kids can understand. It will also bring needed practice in making and creating maps. The instant learning centers are a fun hands on way for the students to practice these skills and others all year long. They would help them have fun while making real world connections with the lessons. Learning and fun should always go hand in hand!
