Many of us have communication disabilities that make it very difficult to convey our wants, needs, feelings, and desires. Technology is very engaging and motivating for us. Its interactive capabilities help supplement teaching to our unique learning styles through the visual, kinesthetic, and auditory modes of learning. Our students have moderate to severe disabilities, servicing all areas of special education eligibility. Many of us have a very difficult time with functional communication. We have a lot we want to say, but we often lack the ability to do so. Sometimes, this causes us to act out in ways we know we shouldn’t. Really, what we need is for our voice to be heard. We are a resource classroom of kindergarten through fourth grade students who learn best by using a multi-sensory approach. Technology facilitates this method of learning.
