About my class

I have discovered that the key to teaching my students the basics of geometry is making it memorable by getting them out of their seats to "touch, feel, and experience" geometry. Let's bring the hands on feeling back to the classroom. Picture a disadvantage learner whose real world experiences have been limited to the confines of their neighborhood and learning environment. Now imagine this same disadvantaged learner trying to visualize a three-dimensional shape from a flat picture in a book, or calculate the measurement of an angle with out the proper tools. What if this was your child? I teach seventh grade math in a low performing school that is working diligently to move our learners and close the achievement gap for our students. Although our school is 98% free and reduced lunch, I will not let my students social economic status determine my students ability to learn.
