My students are in kindergarten through eighth grade and are eligible for special education due to a disability related to autism, emotional/behavioral disability, learning disabilities including reading, writing, math, intellectual impairment, vision impairment, and other health impairment which includes attention deficit, epilepsy, and other medical diagnoses. No two students are alike even when their eligibility is the same. This is the exciting and demanding challenge of meeting their needs each and every day. Each and everyone has the ability to learn and be a part of the school setting. However, many of these students require such individual attention that it is difficult to include them in a group and receive benefit. Our school is an International Baccalaureate school which raises the bar even higher. Our teachers do an amazing job of differentiating within their classes. But that still only allows some students to be able to progress in the least restrictive environment.
