I teach first grade students in a low economic area. My school has a large number of free or reduced lunch households. Many of the students have a difficult home life and like to be at school and want to learn. The ability to focus has progressively become more and more difficult with the amount of rigor that is expected of them at school as well as the worries they bring with them to school each day.
