My students come to school every day with a tough job: to learn all they can, in both English and Spanish. As a Dual Language Kindergarten, my students spend half their day in English and half in Spanish. This means they learn Math, Science and Social Studies only in Spanish, with no translations. The result of this is that by the end of 6th grade, our students will come out of the program completely Bilingual, Bicultural, and Biliterate. They sing songs to help them learn to speak Spanish, and do all of this while learning how to read and write in English! This is super hard work, but our students rise to the challenge and love their new superpower- being bilingual!
