The families are wonderful, and are as supportive as they can be. However, there are restraints on support, such as parents who are deported, who might work two jobs, or who may be first generation migrants who don't yet know English. Students are willing to learn, and need all the support we can provide. Kids are kids, no matter where they grow up, and therefore they should have the same materials and opportunities as a student who has grown up in a different neighborhood with a different background.
