My students need a rug that shows them a specific spot to sit on so that they are not sitting too closely to the student next to them and invading their personal space. This helps the students to be more engaged in learning rather than bumping into each other and causing distractions. In first grade, we frequently sit together on the floor for whole group instruction or story time and my classroom is in need of a colorful, clean rug for the students to sit on. The rug I have chosen has colored squares that show the students their specific area. This will be helpful as the students sit in a criss-cross position on the floor. It is also brightly colored to help the classroom to be more cheerful and inviting.
