My students need to learn functional living skills before they leave a formal educational setting. My goal is for these special children to learn how to cook so they will be prepared for life outside of the classroom. Cooking involves all academic skill areas. Reading and math are essential in order to read a recipe. My students will be able to use both of these academic skills while learning to cook at the same time. We have a special curriculum that has several recipes to make each month. Cooking is part of our curriculum so the items, such as the oven, mixer and blender, requested with enable us to fulfill the requirements of this curriculum.
