Often, students give up in this area too afraid to ask for help. Instead, they carry everything at school that belongs to them, on their backs, literally. My students are special education students. Extra practice with day to day activities, such as opening a locker, would be beneficial in making them feel more comfortable with their transition to middle school. Feeling prepared in this area would alleviate fears and equip them with one more tool that would allow them to successfully experience all aspects of the middle school journey.
