My students are children who are technologically savvy. However, their experience only extends to closed systems (Xbox, iPhones, etc.) They have not experienced the joy of creating commands that control computers. Like many schools, ours does not offer coding classes. I want to pilot course that allows groups of students in class to program the Sphero robot to accomplish preset tasks and solve problems, much like they do with STEM activities. Despite being classified as a "Distinguished School," we are still designated a Title I school. We need to continue to offer curriculum that prepares students for the future.
