I am one of the few psychologists in the District that actually works with all grade levels from preschool to adult school. Many of my students come from family backgrounds that are not conducive to learning let alone to good mental health. I deal with students with both learning issues, mental health issues, and difficulties with socialization skills. Some of my students have needs so severe that they are not able to be educated with typically developing peers. Nevertheless, they are ultimately just children in need of the same basic needs that we all have, to be valued, respected and cared for. There is not a single child that I have worked with over the years that I have not felt that they could be helped no matter what the disability. Children are just children, full of hope and potential.
