My students are first generation college-bound students who come from a wide variety of ethnicities. They work very hard in a program designed to help them earn simultaneously their high school diploma and their college associates degree. We are a Title 1 school where more than 85% of our students are considered at risk and receive free or reduced lunches as a result. They have competed to be a part of our school and been given this wonderful opportunity based on their work ethic and their desire to focus their high school experience on the academic challenges involved in being a part of an early college high school. They are learning to work as a team and a family as they support each other in the pursuit of their dream of a college degree. Most will continue beyond this program to attend a four-year institution where they will likely graduate with their bachelor's degree before they are 20. They maintain high grades and earn more than 20 hours of community service each year.
