From previous years, I have experienced that students like to learn in different settings, whether it be sitting in a desk, laying down on the carpet, or sitting on stool. Daily the rug in my classroom is crowded with students who want to stretch out and complete their assignment. I want to offer another alternative for them. I would love to see my divergent mathematicians' faces light up when they see they have stools to place anywhere and sit on. They would use the clipboards to complete written assignments. This alternative would also make transiting smoother to form collaborative groups. As a math class we go through markers quickly as we solve problems on the board and on our personal dry erase boards. Although we do most of our calculations by hand, calculators would help us check our work faster and help solve large exponential problems. Please help my classroom become more divergent.
