I teach at a school with amazing students. We have just recently made a transition to a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) school. While we are a high needs school, our students are motivated to learn. We focus on teaching students how to apply what they are learning to the real world. We want our students to explore how school helps them get where they want to go in life. Our mission is Learning through Discovery, Leading with Character. Our goal is to change our teaching practices to encourage exploration and discovery in our classrooms. Although we have a special academic focus, we are still a public school. For this reason, we are making this transition with the same financial support public schools receive. We are looking for other ways to help make the changes necessary to make this transition.
