My students are various ages from 7th grade through high school for clinics. My team is high school level. They live in a low economic area in an area of phoenix that has a high drop out rate, teen pregnancy rate, and high teen incarceration rate. Having students learn a sport, teaches them how to work with others even if they don't agree. How to push through things that are hard and not give up or give in. It build confidence and confident students excel in classes. Excelling in school, is the most effective way to keep them off the streets, from getting pregnant, and out of jail. This area has a lot of gangs, it is essential that they find connective relationships with others their age in a safe environment to keep them out of that situation.

About my class
