My students are fourth grade in a title one school. They work daily to prepare for the EOG at the end of the year. They are tested regularly and have to stay focused in order to achieve their goals. Our school is a supportive, encouraging environment. We believe in promoting greatness and encouraging our students to be college and career ready. My children are sweet, loving and really do work hard every day to achieve their goals. My class is over 50% Hispanic and so English, for many of them, is the second language. They do not always get the support they need from home and so rely on their daily instruction at school to achieve high grades. Therefore their schooling is the main source of their education and is helping them to become sufficiently prepared for the 21st century American workplace. Many children in my school are from low income families and so school is an opportunity for respite from the challenges that their home lives present.
